Holy bologna.

It's been a few minutes since I've had a few minutes to be able to sit down and write a blog.  There has been so much going on in our lives lately!  My husband, who is active duty military, received his orders for our next location and we've relocated to southern Georgia!  How exciting, right?!?!

We pulled up stakes at the end of July and drove cross-country as a two-vehicle convoy to our new home in Ludowici, GA.  We decided it would be a good idea to separate the cats and the baby, so I drove our "cat car" while Dave drove the truck with a tiny trailer packed with stuff we thought we'd need immediately upon arrival.  What fun that was!!  As it it weren't enough having three felines singing me the song of their people for 1,600 miles, the roadside attractions were equally entertaining.  One memory that sticks out like a sore thumb was in Kansas where we drove past a sun-faded billboard painted with black words that read, "I NEED A KIDNEY," which was followed with a phone number.  Huh??  Don't people normally get on a registry for that?  An interstate billboard is an interesting approach.

"Ludo..what??!"  We've planted ourselves to the southwest of Savannah and absolutely love it so far!!  It's been a complete shock to our systems transitioning from the mountain highs of Colorado Springs at an elevation of over 6,000 feet to near sea level.  And holy humidity!!  I feel like I look like a fluffy dandelion 24/7.

We haven't been able to see what the area has to offer just yet, but rest assured, it's coming soon!  I can't wait to take my baby girl and my camera to the beach and do a little photo shoot.  When that happens, you'll be able to see our adventures here!    Until then, please enjoy a photo of Adalyn from the road trip!

Stuart, continued.

If you followed my blog at all on my last website, you might remember a furry feline we "adopted" and called Stuart.  If not, here's a little backstory.  It's been about two years that Stuart has been making the rounds.  We first noticed the tabby cat hop over the fence and skittishly scan the backyard of our home.  I, being the furry friend lover I am, went out and tried to befriend the cat.  Didn't go so well.  It took some time, but by about six months later, I was able to leave treats on the steps and Stuart would eat as I sat nearby.  The friendlier we became, I was able to give pets and noticed that Stuart should probably be named something like Stuetta.  Since then, she's been making her daily rounds to check the cat dish left on the back porch we routinely fill with Meow Mix.  With the glass doors leading to the back porch, our indoor cats often feel jealous that Stu gets to be outside.  Occasionally, we'll hear patting on the back door and know that she's stopped by for a bite to eat.

Today is one of the days that I worry about Stu.  It's springtime in Colorado and we know that the weather changes so quickly.  It's been warm, but I always worry that she'll be cold and won't have enough to eat to keep her warm.  I should know that she'll be fine though, just as she's been through the past winters and spring storms.

As we approach our date for moving away this summer, I also wonder about the future homeowners that will live here.  Will they care for Stu the way we have?  What if they have a dog?  I must remember that she will be able to take care of herself, just as she has for the past two years after she makes her rounds by our back door.
